The man in the suit seemed taken aback, perhaps not expecting to be confronted by someone who appeared so formidable. The bearded man continued, “Babies cry; that’s what they do. I know you’re tired, but stressing her out won’t help anyone. How about I buy you a drink from the cart as a peace offering?”
The suit bloke hesitated, still visibly annoyed, but the unexpected support from the bearded man seemed to deflate his anger a bit. He grumbled something under his breath, but eventually nodded, accepting the offer. The bearded gentleman turned to me, offering a warm, reassuring smile.
